I am in favor of creating affordable housing for the seniors in our Town. I voted in favor of a proposal to sell the Fulton School to create over 60 units of housing. This vote will provide for those who would otherwise be forced to live outside of Weymouth if this type of housing was not available. These types of project will not only provide some affordable housing for our seniors but will also contribute to our tax base. Using this innovative approach, we are able to meet a need and increase much needed revenues to provide services.

The Community Preservation Committee is also required to seek those projects that meet the standards of community housing. This committee has advanced such a project.

This project is for affordable housing which means that the resident must meet certain income guidelines and that they must be able to afford the mortgage placed on his/her unit. I support such an initiative as we must create affordable places that are within the financial reach of our young.
